$9.5 Million Canal Estate Affords A Quick Getaway On Grand Cayman

Grand Cayman is a resort mecca with white sand beaches, scuba diving, snorkeling and deep-sea fishing.

The largest of the Cayman Islands, it boasts fine dining, a stress-free environment and picture-perfect weather. A draw for real estate investors and expats: The entire British Overseas Territory is a tax haven with no property, income, capital gains or payroll taxes.

An estate home now on the market at US $9.5 million is a standout example of the luxury residences near Grand Cayman’s sought-after Seven Mile Beach area with its stunning swath of coral sand.

“The home is located in the ultra-exclusive community of Vista del Mar within the larger Cayman Islands Yacht Club community,” says listing agent Jill Davison of 1503 Property Group. “This is the only community with sound to sea connectivity, meaning in these canal-front homes from your back door you can hop on your boat and be in the North Sound in seconds.”

She adds, “Out your front door, you can take a golf cart or walk to Seven Mile Beach in less than 5 minutes without ever having to cross a road.”

Set on a half-acre of lush grounds, the tile-roofed residence was recently rebuilt and renovated with contemporary interiors. Views take in the canal and Bird Island, a protected nature reserve.

The 8,230 square feet of living space begins with a two-story tall living room that opens to a formal dining room, staircase and center island kitchen featuring custom cabinets, high-end appliances and quartz countertops.

Glass doors lead to a covered outdoor dining room and outdoor kitchen overlooking a 37-foot swimming pool. Beyond the pool is a 50-foot dock.

The ground level also contains a guest suite, office, game room, laundry room and media room.

Upstairs are two more bedroom suites, a library and an oversized primary suite with a walk-in closet and sitting room.

Including a separate ground floor guest apartment—with living room, kitchenette and ensuite bedroom—and another guest suite above the garage, there are a total of six bedrooms, six bathrooms and a powder room.

The three-car garage is equipped with an electric vehicle (EV) charging port.

“This house would appeal to everybody, but especially families with its generous gardens and ample space for everybody,” Davison says. She and 1503 Property Group cofounder Ruth Gustafsson are the listing agents for 27 Bird Island Drive on Grand Cayman.
